Why We Exist
LAYI exists to transform the lives of disadvantaged youth by providing them with opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and resilience through structured programs in sports, health, and education.
Lumala Abdu’s Inspiring Journey
From a small village in Uganda to the global football stage, Lumala Abdu’s journey is one of remarkable resilience. Growing up separated from his parents, Lumala faced the harsh realities of poverty, displacement, and uncertainty. Football became his source of strength, hope, and direction.
Lumala’s life experiences fueled his desire to give back, turning his success into a platform to uplift youth facing similar challenges. Today, Lumala leads LAYI in empowering the next generation to rise above circumstances and pursue their dreams

OUR IMPACT
Achievements in Health and Advocacy
Raised awareness about malaria prevention and treatment across Africa, contributing to a decrease in malaria cases. Promoted the use of insecticide-treated nets, making malaria prevention accessible to thousands.
Youth Engagement
Established sports and mentorship programs in refugee settlements, fostering resilience and hope. Launched scholarships and equipment donations, giving underprivileged youth the tools to thrive.

VIST TO KYANGWARI REFUGEE SETTLEMENT CENTER
Renowned Ugandan footballer Lumala Abdu has taken a bold step beyond the pitch, channeling his passion into humanitarian work through his newly established foundation, Lumala-Abdu Youth Impact (LAYI). Having experienced the struggles of displacement as a refugee in both Uganda and Sweden, Lumala is now using his platform to amplify the voices of refugees and vulnerable youth.
