Founded by Lumala Abdu, a globally recognized Ugandan footballer and humanitarian, LAYI is deeply rooted in the values of resilience, determination, and giving back. Lumala’s personal journey from hardship to global recognition inspires LAYI’s mission to uplift underprivileged youth and displaced communities worldwide.

Our Founder: Lumala Abdu
A Life of Resilience and Impact
Born into poverty in rural Uganda, Lumala Abdu faced displacement and loss early in life. Raised by his grandmother and later foster guardians, Lumala found hope and purpose through football. His journey took him to Sweden at 16, where he overcame odds to become an international football star.

As I reflect on my journey, from a small village in Uganda to the global football stage, I am reminded of the resilience and determination that defines us as humans. My story is not just about overcoming adversity, but about the power of hope, hard work, and community.
Through Lumala Abdu Youth Impact (LAYI), I aim to continue inspiring and empowering the next generation of talents, leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers. Our focus on youth empowerment, health education, and social inclusion is driven by a simple yet profound conviction: every young person deserves the chance to thrive and take part in investment in humanitarian action.
As a footballer, I’ve learned that success is not just about individual achievement, but about the collective effort of a team. At LAYI, we believe that by working together, we can create a brighter future for all.
